Is it ethical to send a fax advertising your goods or services to the recipient?

January 11th, 2010 by admin

I have a fax machine and I keep getting faxes advertising goods or services. When I get into my office at home, I find the faxes are already printed and I have paid for the printing myself when its about other people’s busnesses. Is this ethical? Can I do anything about it without incuring further costs? Can I send them a printing bill? How much would I have to charge?

How can I start my own advertising company?

January 4th, 2010 by admin

What must I do to start my own successful advertising company?

The fact that you are posting here online suggests to me that you are not ready to start an advertising company.

The first step is to get experience in the industry

Then move into more contract work. Maybe some small jobs. Depends on what you specialise in.

You will build you business through word of mouth and then you can actually bother registering.

How does advertising work for the recording and movie industry?

December 28th, 2009 by admin

Technically, the recording and movie industry do not generate their income through advertising, so how does advertising work for them?

In a way they do generate their income that way. By advertising, there are usually two benefactors: the product being advertised and the sponsor of the advertisement.

The sponsor is given credit for the advertisement in hopes that people will buy THEIR product, and often they do.
The recording or movie industry is putting their product out there, so it is likely to be bought by consumers as well.

Without advertisements, a product would never be seen and therefore never purchased by consumers.

I want to get into advertising but I don’t know where to start?

December 20th, 2009 by admin

I would love to work for an advertising company, and work writing commercials.

What do I need to major in? What kind of internships should I do? Should I get an associates, bachelors, or masters degree? Is the pay decent in advertising?

I just graduated with a Bachelor’s in Advertising. It is a fun career path to take! You should check out www.betterthanschool.com. That’s where I found the school that I am going to to get my Master’s. It gives a good description of the requirements for the degree and what career options you can do with your degree. I would say go for your Bachelor’s then go for your Master’s. Pay isn’t the best at first but it is easy to build your way up! I would like to say that it is a very rewarding career. Best of luck to you! Let me know if you have any questions!

What should the advertising company conclude at the 5% level of significance?

November 30th, 2009 by admin

What should the advertising company conclude at the 5% level of significance?
An advertising company wants to determine if the cartoons series Voltes V, appeals to male viewers more than to female viewers. Based on random telephone interviews,it was found that 23 out of 48 males and 41 out of 90 females watch the series regularly. What should the advertising company conclude at the 5% level of significance?

x(m) = 23
n(m) = 48
x(f) = 41
n(f) = 90
alfa = 0.05

The test of significance for comparison of two proportions of independent samples is performed.

When p1 = x1/n1 is greater than p2 = x2/n2, after application of the continuity correction rule the formula for z is:

[(x1- 1/2)/n1] – [(x2- 1/2)/n2]
——————- —————— = z
sqrt [p *q * ((1/n1) - (1/n2))]

Verification whether it is appropriate to employ the test based on the normal distribution:

The rate of those who reported that watch the series regularly:
p = (23+ 41) / (48 + 90) = 64 /138 =0.4638

The rate of those who do not watch regularly:
q = 1 – p = 1 – 0.4638 = 0.5362

Since n(m) = 48 and n(f) = 90, all these four values are above 5:
n(m) * p
n(m) * q
n(f) * p
n(f) * q
Thus it is possible to use the test based on the normal distribution.

Since the proportion of persons who watch the series regularly is greater in the group of males (0.479 in comparison with 0.456 for females), the numerator in the formula for z will be:

numerator = [(23 - 0.5)/48] – [(41 +0.5) / 90] = 0.46875 – 0.46111 = 0.00759
denominator = sqrt [0.4638 * 0.5362 * ((1/48) + (1/90))] = sqrt 0.00794 = 0.08913

z = 0.00759 / 0.08913 = 0.0852

The two-tailed normal tables give a probability of 0.9321 or 93.21 %.
This P > 0.05 (or 5 %).
The conclusion is that the rate of male viewers does not differ significantly from that of females; in other words, the observed difference in rates can be explained by chance or sampling variation.

For this problem we will use the Chi-squared distribution.

We would expent the percentages to be equal ie 0.4637 each, thus we would expect 22.26 males and 41.74 females to watch the program, we use this to calculate the Test statistic D^2

D^2 = SUM((Expected – observed)^2 / Expected)
= (22.26 – 23)^2/22.26 + (41.74 – 41)^2/41.74
=0.0246 + 0.0131
=0.0377

The Chi-Squared value for 1 degree of freedom at the 5% significance level is 3.841, thus 0.0377 is not larger than 3.841, thus we can conclude that gender has no effect on the viewership.

What kind of money would an average sized advertising agency generate?

November 22nd, 2009 by admin

And if there are any specifics, which i assume there are, just fill them in with your imagination and give me an estimate. Your made-up specifics will help me personalize my question and narrow it down when i ask it again.

Also: What would the CEO of an advertising agency be making?

3- 5 million gross with 1/4 for expindetures, 1/4 for salaries and office space so half would be net profits. no ceo for average sized firm. agency manager would net about 2- 300,000.00 though………………

How much do advertising agencies here in the Philippines charge?

November 15th, 2009 by admin

How much do advertising agencies here in the Philippines charge? For example a TVC? POPs? Print ads? A full campaign for a client? It would also be very helpful to know the rates of big agencies (like BBDO Guerrero, TBWA, Publicis Jimenez Basic, Ogilvy, Etc.) and the smaller players in the industry. Thanks

It really depends on what kind of media you plan to use… around 50,000 the lowest fro print ads and can skyrocket from there. If you wish to post your products and services on the net or may want to find suppliers. you may want to visit bizeen, its a website with business profile of suppliers and buyers in the philippines.
