What types of things does advertising influence?
I’m doing a project in economy and I want to do something on advertising influence. I thought of doing how advertising has influenced woman’s body images, but I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable so I want to do something else.
It has to be something that has clearly changed over the years… Can someone please give me some ideas?

Ads influence the actions of consumers. They make a shopper reach for a Coke instead of another brand of soda.
In the 1950′s the advertisers would sponsor an entire 1 hour show. It would be called the Maytag Hour ( for example) and all the ads would be done by Maytag. If the show did something controversial , the advertiser would threaten to cancel all ads. That means the show would have to immediately shut down.
Now a tv show might have 20 advertisers. No single advertiser would cause a show to be canceled.
