The video wasn’t …
The video wasn’t really intended to give the impression that today’s ads are the same , but I agree major differences in marketing strategy have emerged
the analysis of …
the analysis of this particular ad may be spot on, but may not apply to many of the ads that are seen today.
What specific …
What specific differences are you referring to and what makes you believe those differences make my interpretation of this particular ad invalid?
not many ads are …
not many ads are still designed in such a manner.
In what way?
In what way?
Using an ad from …
Using an ad from 1945 renders your interpretation invalid. IMHO.
I also notice …
I also notice another thing, the “Love, Warmth, Cuteness” element. There’s the hearts, the nice family scenes, cute pooches & children & a lovely young woman (warm, soft & inviting on many levels, especially in a romantic sense). The lady obviously captures the attentions of the hetero-male readers as well so everyone’s covered.

The ad is kind of designed to appear as if it’s a news article which I find an interesting approach and it may have been the type of thing that worked at the time. An important factor with ads is that I don’t think advertisers are always conscious of why they design some of the finer details the way they do. Same goes with film making. I look back on my short films and realize why I did things that felt instinctive at the time.
Roger, I like your …
Roger, I like your stuff but I’ve worked in advertising for a few years and I think a cluttered ad is a sign of an unrefined message, not a technique of overloading the viewer. Also, the dog food ad is old when the modern ad industry and the work they produced was not very sophisticated.
No it’s a phallic …
No it’s a phallic symbol … joking. I like ancient art esp Egyptian and tribal African stuff.
is that an egyptian …
is that an egyptian subliminal behind your back.
“born to thrill”
“born to thrill”
I suppose that all …
I suppose that all depends on your definition of the word subliminal. A lot of stuff in ads bypasses people’s attention via connotation which imo qualifies as subliminal. I’m not saying this stuff is a big revelation and yes lots of people know about it. The vids here are for the people who aren’t as educated, researched or natural at picking up on it
FMJ johnny’s hey. Cool
i wouldn’t say that …
i wouldn’t say that this advert was subliminal. You are just looking at the connotations of it. We’re taught to do that early on in high school if we pick media studies, taught to develop it further when we study media at A-level, and then when you join a marketing degree, well. Then again some people just do it naturally, i did before i joined my course. And you might be interested to know that i have designed an advert for condoms that includes an image from ‘Full metal jacket’, small world?
If you can …
If you can acknowledge your own paranoia then it’s not a severe case
I’m paranoid in a diff way. I think a lot of the really over the top conspiracy stuff floating around is simply disinfo to distract people from genuine instances of corruption.
I’m just paranoid …
I’m just paranoid like that.
Hehe. You think I’m …
Hehe. You think I’m illuminati? I’m both flattered and insulted.
Illuminati, eh?
Illuminati, eh?
Not totally sure if …
Not totally sure if there’s an equivalence between the dogs and the dog food, perhaps it’s rather an ociation between shopping and dogs, with the idea that when the reader goes shopping, they will unconsciously remember the photo of the dogs in the trolley and will then recall the advertisement. Cheers.
LOL !!! You’re the …
LOL !!! You’re the first person to point that out. I like Egyption and African ornaments and that kind of stuff … or maybe I’m a member of the Illuminati !!!
Good job detecting …
Good job detecting these SUBLIMINALS..
But while we are seeking SUBLIMINALS..
why do you have a statue of HORUS in the background…interesting
grate video, …
grate video, interesting subject subliminals
Basically by …
Basically by breaking the image down into all it’s meticulous details. A lot of the time stuff comes to your attention that doesn’ make any sense in terms of it just randomly being there, but when you cross reference the details the subliminal themes begin to emerge.
How do you see …
How do you see through all of these adverts?I just see a bit of paper with some writing on it.But I see the whole ‘dogs and love drawing your attention to the product’thing.
Lol !!! That …
Lol !!! That actually makes sense.
